broke a barrier

did the 5k in 21:56 this morning. very proud, but it took a lot out of me. my stomach was hurting something awful when i stopped. it's an average of less than 13.5 pace, so maybe instead of starting at 13 and needing to amp up to 14 and then 14.5, maybe i should just run the whole thing at a steady 13.5...that's a 7:15 average mile, btw. i'm beginning to think i could do a single mile under 6:30 after all.

i keep binge eating late at night. no more. ran this morning: 5k in 23:05. actually felt pretty tired going into it...general fatigue and calves ached. didn't feel any different for most of the run, but at least my condition didn't degrade. sped up to 14 kmph early on because of the guster song, but dropped back to 13 right after. at least i didn't run the whole thing at 12. if my calves don't feel any better tomorrow, i might take a day off and lift instead. that might just be the hunger talking though. really, what is my motivation? i watch smite videos every morning and it makes me late for work every morning. walking in heels doesn't help the calf pain at all. its bloody cold in this country. i think i detected an asymmetry in my run. i push off my right leg a lot harder than my left...tried to correct for it by staying on my left leg longer...not sure that it helped.

it's been awhile, but i haven't just been sitting on my rump!...well, sorta i have...my quads and my butt are considerably smaller. it took me three days of exercising in hk before i figured out that the speeds and stuff are done in kilometers. i thought i was SO BOOKING IT when i had the rate at 12 (which would translate into a 5 min mile...but because its in km, it's only 8 min). and then in london, i wasn't doing much at all...it's hard to exercise when you want to explore instead. the weather here is very nice for running tho...cool and windy. went for a couple of 30 mins earlier, but this weekend, decided to go all out and see how far it'd take me. ran the thames path till tower bridge. 30 min out 30 min back (roughly). stopped a little bit in the middle cuz my left knee started hurting. very good run overall...tired around 15 min (stomach cramps), but rediscovered the meaning of the words second wind. basically felt like sprinting the rest (and i did for stretches of it). it's hard to run the thames path, cuz even though its flat, it's all cobblestone roads with stretches of one way. pretty bad on joints...and no softer surfaces (like sidewalk grass). i don't think i'd run it without my glasses. this morning, woke up at 6 and ran a sub 24 5k. then did a little physioball and 25 tricep thingies...i'm determined to have toned triceps...no idea why. ran out of time before i could do much else...but i found myself whistling on the way to work. exercising makes me feel great!
